What's the Difference?
Down vs. Down Alternative
The main difference between down and down alternative duvet is the materials they are each made from. While both types of duvet are available in a variety of different styles, colors, and weights; the filling of the duvet is what determines the difference between down and down alternative products.
- What is a Down Duvet ? – Down duvets are filled with fluffy clusters of down feathers, which are found under the top layer of the feathers of ducks and geese. This popular luxury bed linen staple offers extreme comfort and a high level of warmth. Not all down products are created equal, though. Every Peacock Alley down duvet is made from the finest European white goose down fill that is responsibly sourced, sterilized using the Ultra15 Clean™ process, then wrapped in a 400 thread count cotton sateen down for amazing comfort that you can feel good about.
- What is a Down Alternative Duvet? – Sometimes labeled as a synthetic or faux down duvet, down alternative duvets are filled with man-made materials that are designed to have the look and feel of a natural down product. Down alternative duvets can be filled with synthetic materials such as polyester or rayon, or they can also be made from natural fibers such as cotton. If natural down is not for you, Peacock Alley offers a Dacron® down alternative duvet that is just as cozy as our down bedding products. Our special blend of alternative down clusters, lofts, and compresses just like the real down duvets and provides the same plush and adjustable insulation.
